I recently purchased 2 hp 6910p laptops for a customer. I needed to replace the existing memory with 2 x 2GB modules. The first module was very easy. The memory expansion bay was on the bottom of the laptop and it easy to install. But how do I install the memory that is buried under the keyboard?

1. Remove the power cord

2. Remove the battery

3. On the bottom of the laptop there are 3 screws that need to be removed. Flip the laptop over and remove all 3 screws that have a keyboard logo next to them. I circled two of the locations in the below picture.

4. Flip the laptop over and push the 4 tabs down between the functions keys. Below is a picture of one of the tabs between the f4 and f5 keys.

5. Pull the keyboard from the top towards you. Do not pull too hard. I did not remove the cables that connect the keyboard to the motherboard. You should be able to remove the old memory module and replace it with the new.

6. After you replace the memory module put the keyboard back starting with the bottom first.

7. Push the 4 tabs back into place.

8. Flip the laptop over and put the 3 screws back into place.

You are done.
