Blackberry blocked by Websense!

Have you had this happen to you? You are surfing the internet and you want to check the sports scores or go to Maxim.com to get the latest recipe. The page that comes up is your corporate Websense server telling you that the content is blocked.

Little did you know that your web browser on your BB determines how you surf the internet. The “Internet Browser” is the default browser out of the box. The “Internet Browser” uses your same Websense server through the Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) that is most likely implemented in your office. To get around this you must change your default browser to the “Blackberry Browser”. To do this follow the below instructions.

Scroll to Options > Advanced Options > Browser

Your “Default browser configuration:” is set to “Internet Browser”

Scroll and highlight “Internet Browser” and PUSH your wheel or pearl

Change it to “Blackberry Browser” and PUSH your wheel or pearl again

PUSH your “Menu” button and select “Save

Interesting reading and it will work if there is no IT policy set on the device.
