Vista Service Pack 1

I just finished installing Windows Vista Service Pack 1. This blog will document my experience with SP1. I will have information about the issues that have been resolved or discovered as a result of the service pack installation.
I have two computers running
I installed the service pack on my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop. Its a machine that was labeled “Windows Vista Capable”. I would agree with that for the most part. I originally did an upgrade from XP Pro to Vista Business. That failed miserably so I backed up my data and did a complete “fresh” install.
It’s only been an hour since the install. I have nothing to report….so far.

Using “Computer Management” to connect to remote systems did not work before SP1. I would always get a strange error when attempting the connection. The error has gone away and I am able to connect to remote machines.
The only issue I see now is the service descriptions display on NT4 machines. Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 machines are fine.
The Remote Desktop Client is less annoying. Before SP1 I was constantly prompted to click Yes or No to confirm a non-verified connection. Now I can turn off the “warn me” feature so it doesn’t prompt me every time.
If you leave the “warn me” feature on it gives you the option “Don’t show the warning again”. Check that and click “Yes” and you are good to go for that host.
YEAH!!!
It’s been over week since I installed sp1 on my laptop. I have decided to go ahead and install it on my desktop at home. My desktop is a Dell XPS 410 with Vista Ultimate 64-bit.
This should be interesting.
One thing worth mentioning. The 64-bit service pack is almost double the size vs. the 32-bit service pack.
